Emergency Garage Door Repair
A door that will not close, a car shut inside or a spring that just broke: call at any hour, day or night.
Exact price before any work · Answered 24/7, holidays included
Emergency garage door repair is urgent work on a door that leaves the house open, traps a car or hangs in an unsafe position. You need it when a spring snaps, a cable lets go, the door jumps its track or the opener quits with the door up. Our Leesburg line is answered 24/7, weekends and holidays included.
Signs You Need Emergency Garage Door Repair
- The door is jammed in the open position, so the house would sit unlocked overnight.
- A loud bang came from the garage, and now the door feels far too heavy to lift.
- One side hangs lower than the other, or rollers have popped out of the rail.
- A lift cable dangles loose or has unwound from its drum.
- The car is shut inside and the door will not move.
- The opener runs but the door stays put, or the door drops much faster than normal.
- A car or trailer has crushed the bottom section and left a gap under the door.
If more than one of these is true, stop using the opener and call (571) 410-8727. A door that is only noisy or slow can usually wait for a booked garage door repair visit.
How We Handle an Emergency Call
- Call us first. Phone (571) 410-8727 and tell us what happened, whether the door is up or down and whether a car is inside. We tell you on the call what to leave alone.
- We make it safe. The technician secures the door before anything else: clamping the rails, supporting a hanging section or blocking a door that could drop.
- We find every failed part. Springs, cables, rollers, rails and the opener all get checked, because one broken part often strains the next one.
- You approve the price. You hear the exact amount before any repair starts, and the diagnostic visit is $0 when you go ahead.
- We repair, balance and test. Failed parts are replaced, the door is balanced, the safety reverse is checked and the door is run up and down until it moves cleanly.

Parts and Options in an Emergency Repair
- Torsion or extension springs. Torsion springs sit on a steel shaft above the opening and twist to lift the door; extension springs stretch along the horizontal rails. A replacement is matched to the weight of your door, not just to the old spring's size. See garage door spring repair.
- Cables and drums. Lift cables wind onto a drum at each end of the torsion shaft. When one snaps, we replace both so they wear at the same rate.
- Standard-lift or high-lift track. Standard-lift track curves back close to the header, while high-lift track runs higher up the wall before it turns, which suits tall garages. Bent sections are straightened or replaced, and worn rollers are changed as a set.
- Belt, chain or direct-drive openers. A chain drive is the loudest of the three, a belt drive runs quieter, and a direct-drive unit moves the trolley along a fixed chain with very few moving parts. If an opener cannot be fixed on the spot, we disconnect it so the door closes and locks by hand until it is repaired.
- Steel, wood or composite sections. A section crushed by a car can often be replaced on its own when the model is still made; garage door panel replacement explains the matching.
Safety First When the Door Fails
A garage door is heavy, and the springs carry most of that weight. When a spring or cable breaks, do not pull the red release cord with the door open, because the door can come down hard. Keep children and pets out of the garage, leave a half-open door where it is, and never try to wind, loosen or unhook a spring yourself. If the opener keeps trying to run, unplug it at the ceiling outlet.
Repair or Replace After an Emergency?
Most emergencies end with a repair, not a new door. A snapped spring, a broken cable or a door off its rails is fixed with parts. A new door is worth pricing when several sections are crushed, when the door itself is bent out of shape, or when an old, uninsulated door keeps failing in the same way. We can quote both choices on the same visit; new garage door installation covers the replacement side.

List amounts are where each job starts. The figure for your door is agreed with you before any repair begins.
Why can two emergency calls cost different amounts? A single broken extension spring is a small job next to a door that fell out of its track and bent a rail and a cable on the way down. A heavy wood or double-wide door needs stronger springs than a single steel door, and parts grade matters too. We show you which parts failed and what each one costs before anything is replaced.
Emergency Garage Door Questions
What can I do safely before the technician gets here?
Keep people, pets and cars clear of the door, and do not pull the red release cord if a spring or cable is broken, because the door can drop. If the opener keeps humming or reversing, unplug it. Leave the parts where they are so we can see what failed. Our garage door spring repair page explains why springs need a technician.
Can you get my car out if the door will not open?
In most cases, yes. Once we find the broken part, we secure the door and lift it safely so the car can come out, then finish the repair. If a cable has snapped, the door may need support on both sides first. Mention on the call that a car is inside, and see garage door cable repair for how cables fail.
Is a door that came off its track an emergency?
Treat it as one. A door out of its rails can twist, jam or fall, and pressing the opener button again can bend more metal. Leave it where it is, keep the area clear and call. We secure the door, straighten or replace the bent rail and hang it again. Read more on garage door track repair.
How do you work out the price on an urgent call?
The same way as on any visit: we find the failed parts, tell you the exact price and wait for your yes before work starts. Starting prices are from $150 per spring, from $150 per cable and from $120 for a set of rollers. Opener faults are priced on site by brand and model, as on our garage door opener repair page.
The opener died with the door open. Can it still be closed?
Often it can, if the springs and cables are intact. The red release cord lets you lower the door by hand, but only do this when the door is balanced and nothing is broken. If the door feels very heavy or hangs crooked, stop and call. We can repair the motor or fit a new unit through garage door opener installation.
